Just came back to Panama October 15th from MN. It seems like this transition stage between land and boat doesn’t get any easier the more you do it. Possibly because we keep getting deeper into heat and humidity. But life is good. Especially since we just finished trying to decide to look at input shaft (behind transmission) and deciding to wait till Guatemala. Then deep into taking out all cabinetry to replace hoses and head. Not great fun but so much nicer than our original leaky one. Then into cleaning off some mold (not as bad as expected) and spending $600 on provisions to probably last us through Hondorus (with additions of vegees/etc.).
Decided to take a break and go up Rio Chagres (National Park) with lots of wildlife and rain forest. Nice time but this time of year is abit more humid/rainy. But wonderful fresh water as long as you stay close to ladder as there are crocs. So now back at Portobello, Panama to hang out and get internet and more civilization, vegees, etc. This was where we were before coming to MN. Boy there are alot more boats here now than then. So its getting out as being a safe harbor. Probably stay in this area or go back briefly to San Blas till leave mid November for Isla Providencia, Colombia enroute to Bay Islands, Hondorus to do some diving, etc. before heading toward Rio Dulce, Guatemala.
Anyway just a brief update so keep us posted as to your life. Happy Halloween! The Catholic celebration of the “Day of the Dead” (Dia de los Muertos) is November 2nd so that will be nice to experience.

Hey guys. Sent you an email when you were in Minneapolis but no response. Gets busy when you return to land. We are in Vero Beach. Today we replace our prop (hit something out on the ocean and the feathering prop won’t consistently engage in reverse). Probably stay here until Turkey Day then off to the Bahamas. Stay in touch.
Hi Tom and Rose, from Dave and Ellen on Cordelia out of Marquette MI. We are currently at Roatan Honduras and will be staying the winter in the Bay Islands before returning to Rio Dulce in the spring. It sounds like you are heading this way. We must get together and share memories of Lake Superior cruising.
How wonderful to hear from you. Please email us at sailsojourn@yahoo.com with details. We are currently in El Bight, Guanaja after spending a couple days at Michael’s Rock. Do you have SSB? If so lets try to chat on NW Carib Net (6209 USB, 1400 and 2300 UTC daily). We will be leaving to Roatan probably Sunday and be at French Harbor/Fantasy Island to pick up friends around Feb 4th.
