Well this has created somewhat of a stir in our life. We were thinking of other options and speaking to alot of folks about the Chambla Canal that starts past Montreal (Sorel/Richileaux River) and goes into Lake Champlain. We finally met a Canadian couple just before entering the Murray Canal (East of Cobourg, ON which takes you to Bay of Quinte) that just came that way due to the Lock situation. Actually they were in Lock #8 when it all the flooding broke loose. They shared many stories and photos of the locks which we have included. They also shared that the lockmaster won’t guarantee anything over 5’5" due to the lock sills (entrance/exit of lock). The internet says 6’5" but this is inside info that isn’t shared many places. They turned a boat away due to this. So this route was the only option for this canadian couple attempting to get back to Lake Ontario after being down to the Bahamas. We have heard many stories as to if/when the last damaged lock #10 will get repaired. But probably by labor day. I can image the heard of boats waiting on both sides to get through so we will attempt to wait till the log jam lightens up.
